Madelyn Willoughby is a junior at Glen Rock High School and this is her second year working for the Glen Echo. In her free time she works with the Glen Rock High School Theatre Company and watches the Bachelor TV shows.

Nationally recognized poet Ross Gay reads his poetry during an assembly. Gay visited GRHS on April 10 to present his poetry, host a writing workshop, and meet GRHS students and others from a visiting high school. Gay presented some of his poems along with some essays from his new book, “The Book of Delights.”

Caroline Geoghegan, a storyteller at the Moth Story Slam and a member of the Seven Elements Social Justice Club, performs her original piece titled “Pet Store Shenanigans.” This was the second Moth Story Slam hosted by the club. All of the proceeds of the event went to First Friends, an organization that helps immigrants coming to the U.S.

High school students wrap gifts for the Glen Rock Chamber of Commerce’s holiday gift-wrapping event on Dec. 1. The event took place on Dec. 1 and 15 as an effort to bring attention to local businesses in Glen Rock. All the proceeds of this event were donated to CUMAC, an organization that fights hunger.

David Holland sits in his office, he was hit hard with the flu in January. After receiving a chest x-ray, he learned that he had developed Bronchitis. He said that this has the worst he has ever been sick in his life.
