This year’s pep rally, orchestrated by those in 2024’s student council, was a very difficult undertaking. Students got to witness many classic games from past years, while also looking at the introduction of some new one. Selecting the perfect activities to include in the event can make all the difference, and with talk of a winter/spring rally, it’s clear that students want their voices to be heard!
A survey of 60 various GRHS students found that a three-legged race, egg and spoon balancing contest, and a dizzy bat relay would all be welcome additions to our annual outting. Students also voiced their desire for more spirited decorations and grades.
Miscellaneous underclassmen were also interviewed directly to determine what they’d be interested in playing this season. Many agreed that Glen Rock’s old games are starting to get stale. Sophmore Andrew Davidoff said, “I would love to participate in the activities, but none of them are really up my ally. Some diversity in the games would definitely be nice”.
Others already had their own ideas on what they did and did not to play next. “A pie eating contest,” said senior Andrew Blount, “would fill up my belly and my heart. And I can’t suffer through another game of musical chairs though.”
It about time that the student body’s thoughts and opinions are utilized more in the planning of this new pep rally. Despite differing opinions on what games to play, there was a clear consensus that everyone enjoys this spirited day. If anyone has any imperative suggestions, take it directly to the planning committee. Seniors Jordyn Amram and Nicholas Tufano are in charge of the event, so let them know what you want to see this winter!
