Courtney Schmitt is bringing back the Glen Rock High School Annual Blood Drive next week.

Every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, but Glen Rock High School is helping to ease the pressing need for blood suggested by this statistic. On Monday, September 30th, Glen Rock High School will be holding a blood drive sponsored by New Jersey Blood Services.

In previous years, the school sponsored club, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), has had the responsibility to run the Blood Drive. However, the FBLA advisor suddenly failed to hold the annual event last year.

Glen Rock High School Senior, Courtney Schmitt is bringing back the blood drive and hoping to make it a school tradition once again.

“My friend, Courtney, is running the Blood Drive so she made me more aware of this event,” said Janice Leibman, a senior at Glen Rock High School.

The Blood Drive will take place on Monday, September 30th in the All Purpose Room during the hours 8am- 2pm. If you want to donate your blood, you can talk to Courtney Schmitt to learn more about it. Walk-ins are welcome.

All donors between May 24th, 2013 and January 17th, 2014 will be entered into a sweepstake for one of two pairs of Super Bowl XLVIII tickets.

“My parents can’t give blood, so I make up for it,” said Janice Leibman, “I have the blood, why not share it?”
