Starbucks has become increasingly popular over the last couple years with their extensive drink variations and famous refreshers. As the desire for their drinks has increased, so have their prices, leaving many questioning if the drinks are worth the price. While the cost is steep, Starbucks has more to offer than any other coffee shop with its convenience and customizability.
When compared to many other local coffee brands in the Glen Rock area, the prices of Starbucks aren’t expensive. For example, a well known coffee chain called Tatte, which is found in many locations in Boston and Washington DC, as well as a location in Ridgewood, charges $5.90 for a traditional iced latte. This is more than the price for a Starbucks Iced Latte, which is $5.45.
Some other local coffee shops, including Ridgewood Coffee Company and Catalano Coffee don’t have many locations. Even these stores have prices that are similar to those of Starbucks. Catalano Coffee sells Iced Lattes for $5.15 and Ridgewood Coffee Company charges $5.75. Overall, these prices are all in a similar range, meaning that Starbucks prices aren’t much more expensive than others.
While the number may feel jarring when checking, it is representative of the current economy and the high prices of coffee beans, not Starbucks’ pricing alone.
Starbucks also offers a convenience that many small or local coffee houses can’t offer. They have almost 16,000 locations across the United States, meaning you can find your coffee order pretty much anywhere.
Another major quality of Starbucks that isn’t offered to the same extent at any small chain is the options in customization. You can pick from a number of different delicious toppings, drizzles, and types of coffee. Currently, Starbucks offers 11 different flavor syrups and 4 sauces. They are also known for their cold foams, which have 12 regular, 10 non-dairy, and 10 protein. It is safe to say that Starbucks has so many different options that allow you to customize your drink exactly to your liking.
With the reasonable pricing, number of locations, and endless drink combinations, Starbucks can’t be considered overrated.
