Holiday department decorating contest

by Ryan Hornish, Assistant to the Editorial Board

In December, faculty members participated in an office decoration contest that saw, fierce competition in an effort to show their holiday spirit. The idea came along after the English Department’s tradition of decorating their office saw competition with the neighboring history and business department threatening to steal decorations for their own festivities this year. Ms. Pat Mahoney, am English teacher saw other faculty members putting up decorations and seized the opportunity for a competition. Ms. Kathleen Walter described an email sent by Dr. Regan stating “Dr. Regan put it out to the rest of the departments, anybody interested in a competition.”

The office decorating competition saw departments venturing to other departments to find ways to one-up each other and, even finding making holiday themes for the curriculum the department taught. The contest, which came up organically, hopes to make a comeback next holiday season.
