Legos, dolls, and games are collected to donate to underprivledged children. About 60 toys were collected and were sent to Waldwick Library.

A Toy-for-Tots drive collected holiday presents for children in need, just before many will celebrate Christmas.

Kevin Callahan (‘18) and faculty adviser Mr. Mario Porciello collected approximately sixty toys for less fortunate children. Students were asked to bring in new, unopened toys by Dec. 11. They were then sent to Waldwick Library.

“It’s sponsored by the Marines,” Callahan said. “They collect toys, new and unwrapped. We give them to families in need.”

They know that they are not in the best situation and they are not expecting toys and then they end up going downstairs and seeing a bunch of toys. I bet you they will be pretty happy.

Toys-for-Tots is a Marine run program that’s goal is to collect toys for underprivileged children. Toys are then given to parents to give to their children as holiday presents.

Around 60 toys were collected from Glen Rock this year. Legos, dolls, board games, and crafts were donated. The deadline for the toys was Dec. 11. They were then sent to Waldwick Library.

“They know that they are not in the best situation and they are not expecting toys and then they end up going downstairs and seeing a bunch of toys,” Callahan said. “I bet you they will be pretty happy.”

Kevin Callahan has run the Toys-for-Tots drive for three years. He also volunteers with Pathways.

“I just love giving back and I just can’t like imagine if like I wake up on Christmas morning without any toys under the Christmas tree,” Callahan said.
