To take full advantage of the field lights, athletes in the Glen Rock have initiated a new practice schedule.

As of Oct. 5, the lights have only been turned off for four weeknights and only five night games have been played. The boys’ soccer team, girls’ soccer team, and football team have had a combined 11 nights of practices.

“I love being able to go out and practice anytime, and the lights have really helped us, ” Matt Sapoff (’18), football player, said.

Contrasting to the traditional after school practice, night practices this October have started after 6:30 p.m. and have ended around 9 p.m.

Most student athletes like the change in their weekly routine by having practice at different times.

“I do my homework first and then I eat something and rest because I can have a good practice and don’t have to worry about homework later,” Sean Egan (’18) said.

As the football team starts its state tournament on Saturday, its hope is to be able to use the lights this November. Coaches can meet with Athletic Director Mr. Frank Violante to make their upcoming practice schedules under the lights.
