Students consider using their phones for schoolwork at the high school.

Every kid who has ever been a student at Glen Rock High School has probably complained about the lack of cell phone service. It is next to impossible to find service anywhere in the school, and the Wi-Fi goes back and forth from working to not working. It is well past time that the high school made it possible for the students to use their cell phones to benefit themselves and everyone else.

There are teachers in the high school right now that let students look up information on their phones and conduct research, which is convenient except for the fact that it is impossible to do that in a timely manner.

“Yeah, I feel like it would be a lot easier to learn if I could use my phone. I could Google things or go on the Internet,” said high school junior Dan Frissora. Being able to use the Internet would benefit the entire student body.

Another way it will benefit students is by allowing them to text their parents or older siblings if they ever forgot something.

“There was this one time when I forgot my baseball bag before practice, and I had to run home to get it instead of just calling my parents some time during the school day. That would have been so much easier,” said fellow junior Parker Chan.

Another thing I’m sure every student has gone through is sitting in “option” and not knowing what specific problem numbers the math homework is. You can’t look it up because there’s no service and you don’t have access to a computer. This problem could easily be fixed by providing cell phone service.

“I can’t tell you how many times I haven’t done my math homework in option because I couldn’t look up what the numbers were,” said student Tim Mountain.

Service in the school would make everyone’s lives easier and would not hurt the school in any way.
