The Glen Rock High School Varsity Tennis team has done an outstanding job this season. Under the leadership of Coach Zimmermann, they finished 16-1, with their sole loss in the semi-finals of the NJSIAA Team Tennis Tournament. They won the final match of the season, and the Panthers took first place in the NJIC Colonial Division. This has been a dominant season for Glen Rock, and there are many people to thank for this year’s success.
Alex Mircea, a sophomore who made it to the quarterfinals in the States Singles Tournament, deserves commendations and recognition. That’s a feat that hasn’t been accomplished in over a decade by Glen Rock. What makes her achievement even more impressive is that she played against the best tennis players in all New Jersey schools. Yet not only does Glen Rock have this rising sophomore star, but the roster slots are filled with many other great players. Sara Goldberg, a former singles player who now plays with Katie Dao on the Panthers 1st, doubles team, and Julia Rosenwald, who is a singles player who has also participated in doubles tournaments for the past 3 years, are powerful performers representing Glen Rock. There is also Diana Editoiu, who has performed big time for Glen Rock, and won at both a 2nd and 1st singles tournament. Haley Rosenwald, a freshman, has also helped the team succeed.
Coach Zimmermann has a great team from bottom-to-top, and she is genuinely ecstatic over the success of each member of the team this year. Great job this year Panthers!
