This past August, Glen Rock’s High School Varsity football team spent their time creating commemorative stones with the goal to improve the surrounding area near the snack stand.
The Legacy Plaza was a project created and fundraised by the Booster Club, which consists of significant parents in the Glen Rock School community. The Booster Club aimed to make the snack stand a much more memorable place, while adding an attractive piece of art to be displayed for all Glen Rock Athletic events and games.
“We thought about doing a small area around the snack stand, but after speaking with some past Booster members, we decided to expand the project to include the Glen Rock Athletic Hall of Fame area and the 12 by 12 foot Panther Logo,” Mr. Flaccavento, the Booster Club President explained.
A majority of the Varsity football players helped out, alongside their parents, spending all of August working on this project, eventually finalizing it at the end of the month, right before preseason began for fall sports.
“With football in particular, the snack stand has always been a place where members of the community support our team. Glen Rock is a special place packed with athletic traditions, especially with football, so it is awesome to see these dedicated families being recognized,” Mr. McCourt, the Varsity Football Coach shared.
A sense of community has soared throughout Glen Rock as the town has grown stronger, becoming more well known in the sports world. The Panthers recently had a huge win over Midland Park/Waldwick, 42-0, making them one of the few undefeated teams left in High School Football in the state of New Jersey.
