With summer break rapidly approaching and plans of beach grandeur in the works, a question of beach bag essentials always surfaces. For most people, packing for a day at the beach is dreaded, and you always end up forgetting something. That’s why here at the Glen Echo we asked what is necessary in your beach bag, and the responses were enlightening. From tanning oil to watermelon, here are your top picks for what to take to the beach this summer!
#1 Tanning Oil-
As the most popular voted item to bring to the beach, tanning oil is a must in your beach bag this year. The highest rated, and most affordable tanning oil we chose is the Maui Babe Browning Lotion, which ranges from $13-$20 on Amazon. Not only does it come with a coffee scent that is to die for, but a complementary bronzed finish you need to help complete your summer look. It also aids in sunburn and helps quickly heal your skin to prevent peeling.
#2 Sunglasses-
One of the most underrated but important items to bring to the beach, sunglasses falls a close second to tanning oil. While spending hours a day on the sand, ultraviolet (UV) rays are constantly shining into your eyes impacting different parts of your cornea and retina. Sunglasses help to deflect those UV rays while not compromising your vision. Our favorite pair of sunglasses for this summer are Sojos, with 7 different designs to choose from at only $12 these are a definite for your days in the sun. You can find these directly on their website or on Amazon.
#3 Towel-
A quintessential item for your beach bag, a good towel may seem basic but is commonly overlooked. Though it may be easy to grab a dusty Tommy Bahama towel from your bathroom closet, picking out a towel suitable for all your beach needs may make your days on the sand all the better. Trending right now, Turkish cotton towels are the perfect choice for drying off after getting out of the ocean and laying down on a dry towel in no time. Lightweight, but highly absorbent they are great for people who don’t bring multiple towels to the beach.
#4 Snacks-
Debatably one of the most important items to bring to the beach, snacks can make or break your Jersey Shore experience. Some of the most popular types of snacks that were voted were as follows, Craisins, watermelon, Barbeque Lays potato chips, and with 18 votes pretzels. While snacks are very opinion based towards a specific person, fruit and lots of water are more commonly brought along for day trips to the beach. Not counting the vital, overpriced, and most likely freezer-burned ice cream you get from various bell ringers wandering on the sand.
#5 Speaker-
Why sit in silence when you can bask in the sun listening to your favorite songs? Not nearly given enough recognition, speakers change the way you enjoy long days on the sand. If you have never brought a speaker with you to the beach, that ends here as it will undoubtedly change your life. Our personal favorite is the Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM, a small, waterproof speaker that will stay charged the entire day.
