All Time Low captures “Future Hearts.”

by Nicola Fornino, Staff Writer

All Time Low has recently released their sixth album, Future Hearts, on April 7, 2015.

The band is originally from Baltimore, MD, formed in 2003. They are a four-piece band including members Alex Gaskarth (guitar & vocals), Zack Merrick (bass), Jack Barakat (lead guitar), and Rian Dawson (drums). They started their career as a cover band during their high-school years. The band started to tour on their school vacations. In 2005, All Time Low released their first album, The Party Scene, which followed the release of their first EP which was released the previous year. By the beginning of 2006, All Time Low was signed to Hopeless Records. Within six years, the band released a series of EP’s and studio-recorded albums.

Future Hearts is compiled of 13 different tracks. Each song has its own meaning and its own unique sound.

The first track, “Satellite,” is a catchy introduction to the album. Gaskarth truly depicts how strong his voice is through the chorus of this song, as he sings the lyrics: “Wishing on a star that’s just a satellite. Driving in a car with broken tail-lights.” It is an incredible introduction to the rest of their new record.

There is a very impressive guitar solo placed in “Kicking & Screaming,” the second track on Future Hearts.

“Something’s Gotta Give” was the first song released off of the album. This is an extremely catchy track that expresses only a sample of All Time Low’s sound.

“It only takes a little push to pull on through, with so much left to do—you’ll be missing out, and we’ll be missing you.” This is the sixth track of the album, “Missing You.” This song is probably one of the most interesting songs on the album. It has a sort of slow tempo, but still has an intriguing sound to it.

One of the only tracks that has a feature is “Tidal Waves (feat. Mark Hoppus). Hoppus is a singer from the rock band, Blink-182. The rhythm is very memorable when you listen to it.

A song that will definitely get stuck in your head after you listen to the album is “Dancing With a Wolf.” It contains very interesting lyrics, along with an intensive voice range.

Overall, Future Hearts is an astonishing album. It captures such an extraordinary sound that is portrayed through every single track.

All Time Low will be touring during the spring on their Future Hearts Tour.
