Expectations are high as the Glen Rock girls varsity soccer team start off their 2013 season after winning the state title last year. Even though many of last year’s seniors have graduated, the team remains resilient, and they want nothing more than to win.

Co-captain, Sarah Gross, said, “We want to win the league and get as far as we can in the State and Country tournaments.”

There are still new challenges that this team will face throughout the season. “We have the same name as last year, but this is a different team,” says captain Caroline Taylor, a midfielder and forward. The graduating seniors left open spots in the team that have been filled.

Filling the gaps left by the seniors starts with good leadership on and off the field. The captains are always trying to set a good example for the younger girls on the team. Co-Captain and defensive back, Taryn Dwyer, said, “If people can look up to me for any type of encouragement, advice, anything, I will help.”
