“It’s kind of bitter sweet because… we know it’s exciting because it’s our first game as seniors, but it’s sad because it’s our last first game as Seniors,” said Janice Leibman, Glen Rock High School Senior.

During halftime both the Cheerleaders and Color Guard performed their highly anticipated new routines on Friday, September 13th. The audience’s response to both routines illustrated how well they did.

It’s clear from their performances that, without practice, the cheer team and color guard would not be as put together as they are now. When speaking with the co-captain of the color guard, Briana Garcia, about the performance during halftime, she said, “I’m not really nervous about the game, we have all practiced a lot so I am confident we will be fine.”

Before the game, Varsity cheerleading coach Alyssa Perry said, “…there is not a lot of crowd here, so I think it will go really well and for the rest of the games they will be even more prepared.”

Since inclement weather changed the date of the game from Thursday the twelfth to Friday the thirteenth at 1PM, most of the GRHS students were not able to attend the game. Students made known their frustration over not being let out of school to watch the first game.

However, not everyone was mad or upset about the move. “I feel like it made us a little calmer, it wasn’t as stressful,” said Emily Eichorn, a Senior.

At 1PM this Saturday, the 21st, GRHS students will be ready to cheer on the Panther teams.
