Dunkin ($4.69 for small)
For the people who love convenience, this is the latte for you. The flavor, quality, and espresso strength wasn’t anything to write home about, but as latte’s go it was very delicious. Being able to order it ahead of time is great when you’re in a rush, and I find myself stumbling into Dunkin more than any other coffee spot. The price is another big plus for this drink, being under $5 it is easy to get anyday. If you are someone who has just started venturing into iced lattes, their iced vanilla latte is a great place to start.
Thumbody ($7.25 for small)
For the people who love high quality coffee and records, this is the place for you. Tucked away off Route 4 in the GFW building ground suite, Thumbody incorporates every aspect of a cool coffee experience featuring a record room, album cover mural, and plenty of seating to kick back and relax. They acknowledge their coffee is pricey and they show it proudly on their cups, “Please don’t say ‘DAAAMMN!’ when you hear the price,” but the quality is entirely worth it. This latte is definitely for more experienced coffee drinkers as it is very strong, but their menu is filled with unique beverages and pastries for everyone. While it may not be the cheapest or closest, this hidden gem is undoubtedly worth a visit.
La Colombe ($3.29 for 11 fl oz)
For the people who enjoy drinking coffee that is both simultaneously watery and heavy, this is the beverage for you. From the first sip there was absolutely no vanilla flavor coming through, but the taste of five day old coffee was pungent. While their cans claim it is, “…real cold brew coffee with the flavor of a classic cafe latte,” I can truthfully say I didn’t get any of those notes. Its price may be appealing, but don’t be fooled into choosing convenience over quality. As someone who is an avid coffee drinker, the can was in the trash after two sips. Skip La Colombe, take my advice, and choose a fresher, more enjoyable iced vanilla latte.
Ridgewood Coffee Company ($4.50)
For the people who enjoy a more mild, subtle iced latte, this is the drink for you. Despite being very underwhelming, the quality and flavor of espresso was good. It wasn’t very sweet, it didn’t have a lot of vanilla flavor, but it is not the worst one I tried. The physical store itself is very spacious, and I got the impression that it attracts a more work/business driven crowd than coffee seekers. Being right in the center of Ridgewood, the location is great for post-town shopping or yoga, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it. If you happen to pass it definitely stop in, but I wouldn’t recommend making it your everyday iced latte fix.
Honey Day ($6 for small)
For the people who enjoy a creamy, flavorful latte, this is the coffee for you. Honey Day’s success since opening in the center of town can only be described as amazing, and completely deserved. Their iced vanilla latte is completely worth the hype, as the fresh espresso flavor blends seamlessly into the creamy vanilla milk. Being right in town, Honey Day is undoubtedly a local business that should be supported not just for their quality, but their amazing service.
