The Teacher Wellness Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a Glen Rock High School teacher-led “club” that meets once a month. The focus points of these meetings switch interchangeably throughout the months giving a more productive environment. So far 16 teachers have participated. It’s not required for teachers to be there but it is still encouraged.
Mrs. Cozzarelli and Mrs. Siegel are the heads of this PLC with the theme revolving around wellness. February’s meeting was based on yoga which came from Mr.Klump requesting a physical exercise activity during one of the meetings.
“I loved the yoga experience. While I was there, I didn’t think about anything else, so it was a nice break during an otherwise busy day,” says Mrs. Crooks.
In the past, meeting discussions on time management and daily wellness have taken place.
“The PLC is a great way for teachers to improve morale,” says Mrs. Cozzarelli.
She also expressed that once the weather starts getting warmer the meetings will move outside and there will be activities like walking outside which will be a new addition to the PLC.
In other PLCs, teachers have joined in on their colleagues’ classes and later on discussed what they noticed about the class and how to make it more productive. This allows teachers to express things they noticed around the school that can be better during lessons in classrooms.
