On February 2, the most iconic night in music, the Grammys took place in Los Angeles, marking the 67th annual Grammy Awards. It was a major night for many artists, including Sabrina Carpenter, an American actress, singer, and songwriter who first rose to fame through her role in the Disney Channel series “Girl Meets World.”
In August of 2024, Carpenter released her hit album Short n’ Sweet, which quickly achieved platinum status and became the top-streamed album of the week, with 233 million streams in its first week. The album’s singles “Taste,” “Please Please Please,” and “Espresso” dominated the Billboard Hot 100, claiming the top three spots and solidifying Sabrina’s impact on pop music in 2024. In addition, her tour was a massive success, selling out arenas like Madison Square Garden, earning praise from both fans and critics.
Following her dynamic year, Sabrina was recognized at the Grammys with six nominations: Album of the Year (“Short n’ Sweet”), Record of the Year (“Espresso”), Song of the Year for (“Please Please Please”), Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance. Out of these nominations, Carpenter took home two awards: Best Pop Solo Performance for “Espresso” and Best Pop Vocal Album for Short n’ Sweet.
I believe that Sabrina truly deserved the recognition and praise she received. She had an incredible year topping charts, selling out arenas, and breaking records, all of which were well-earned. Having been in the industry since she was 15, Short n’ Sweet marks her sixth studio album, a testament to her hard work and dedication. I agree with the two categories she won, as both “Espresso” and “Short n’ Sweet” had an undeniable impact on pop culture in 2024. While many expected her to take home additional awards, she faced strong competition from Charli XCX, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Ariana Grande, all of whom also had exceptional years.
I really enjoyed the album and felt it perfectly showcased her talents. The combination of her lyricism, humor, and vocals made Short n’ Sweet the perfect summer album, with upbeat songs like Espresso balanced by slower tracks like Don’t Smile. The album resonated with many listeners, and she did a fantastic job creating a deep connection with her fans, making it feel even more special.
Following the Grammys, she announced the release of “Short n’ Sweet” Deluxe, featuring five additional tracks. Beyond the Grammys, I’m thrilled about the “Short n’ Sweet” Deluxe and can’t wait to see how she evolves as an artist. This year has shown that she is moving beyond her Disney roots, demonstrating the talent and potential to establish herself as a major force in the music industry.
