On Monday, Sept. 30, the class advisers for the Freshmen Class of 2028 at Glen Rock High School hosted a breakfast to get all of the students together. They served bagels, muffins, and juices, using this opportunity to announce the class officers and vote for the homecoming theme for the 2024-2025 school year.
Class officers Mrs. Wallace and Ms. Forstot also got to know the ninth-grade students. Mrs. Wallace announced Lily Weyant as class president, Emily Castaneda as vice president, Violet McGuire as treasurer, Logan Perez as corresponding secretary, and Emma Cavanagh as recording secretary.
This year, the freshmen class voted Fishy Freshman for their hallway decorating theme. They chose from four options chosen by Mrs. Wallace for their homecoming hallway decorations during their breakfast.
This is the second class Glen Rock High School math teacher, Mrs. Wallace has advised. She worked to organize the breakfast along with the other freshman adviser, Ms. Forstot.
“Everyone was very respectful. They cleaned up after themselves,” Mrs. Wallace said.
Glen Rock High School freshman Lujain Albetagy attended the breakfast and enjoyed the bagels and other items served.
“I liked seeing all my friends because I don’t have classes with most of them,” Lujain said.
Mrs. Wallace mentioned that the bagels served at the breakfast arrived late. This led to a little chaos, but it was eventually figured out and the breakfast continued smoothly.
The freshmen decorated their hallways with signs and balloons at the entrances. They wrote the names of their peers on paper fish and hung jellyfish from the ceiling.
