GRHS’ own Coffeehouse 53 took place on Thursday, May 16 in the GRHS cafeteria. Seniors Norah Findley & Andrew Vincenti, through the MOBIUS club, hosted the event, where students shared their artistic talent with others by singing, playing instruments, and reading poetry. Solo acts, duos, trios, and group performances were among the entertainment for the event. Sophomore Yuka Bertram said, “The amount of talent there was very impressive and amazing to watch.” The event featured 18 acts, including original poetry readings by chaperones Ms. Ruiz and Ms. Hathaway, and performances by three bands: SPIN, Redacted, and Pico. The audience and guests enjoyed Little Bites Muffins and water. Bertram said that she “loved the tradition of having the bands at the end seeing all the long-lasting bands perform for the last time felt very nostalgic.” Coffeehouse 53 extended special thanks to all performers, graduating seniors, sound crew, chaperones, and the members of MOBIUS, advised and run by Ms. Wechtler. “Some of the seniors graduating have been performing all 3 years I’ve run Coffeehouse, and I’m very proud and grateful of all the work they’ve done, and will miss them,” Wechtler said.
