This year’s annual Homecoming football game took place on Friday, Oct. 13, at our very own Glen Rock High School against Butler. This game wasn’t only special for the football team, as the score was so close, but for the cheerleaders as well. GRHS varsity cheerleaders got to perform their pep-rally halftime routine, which they all agreed was “undoubtedly the best one yet”.
Parents, family, and friends came to support both the football and the cheerleading teams, being one of the largest crowds this season. The recreational football players of the Glen Rock Junior Football Association (GRJFA) also attended the same to support the football team, cheering them on as they ran out onto the field.
Feeling satisfied with the way the routine was performed, senior cheerleader Emily McKeon shared that she was “very proud of the cheerleaders,” saying that it made her “final cheer season the best one of them all”.
During this game, the Varsity Cheerleaders were also accompanied on the sidelines by our very own JV cheerleaders, along with the recreational cheerleaders of the GRJFA.
Although Glen Rock did not win this game, the score was very close being 27-20. Coach Kurz, the Varsity football coach, shared that the football team was working very hard to play their best. When asking Coach Kurz how he felt about this Homecoming game, he shared that he, along with the rest of the team, were “excited and ready to go,” while “looking forward to the opportunity.”
This football game was one of the tightest games of the year! While Glen Rock lost, the score remained tight the entire game. After every touchdown, the opposing team would score one shortly after to tie the game. It wasn’t until the last few minutes of the game that Butler scored their final touchdown.
