The girls tennis team defeated Mary Help on Oct. 11.

The team worked together to clinch wins across the board in both their singles and doubles matches against Help. Seniors Kate Gifford, Rachel Halpern, Mia Ramdayal, Amanda Giummarra, and Isha Slavin all pulled out victories.

“My seniors are all talented. They all have great skill, so it’s great to see them out there playing,” said coach Bonnie Zimmerman. “It was a matter of getting them ready to just play well and without a lot of errors.”

In the singles match, Isha Slavin beat Mary Help’s Monica McEvoy in two straight sets 6-0 and 6-0. Ashley Robinson and Grace DeSalvo also added to the board, winning both of their matches. Robinson beat Esther Paulino 6-0 and 6-0, and DeSalvo picked up a win against Samachi Ozuzu 6-1 and 6-2.

Doubles also scored wins for Glen Rock, with Gifford and Halpern beating Kristine Erstine and Brianna Guzman 6-0 and 6-0. Ramdayal and Giummarra closed out the game with a doubles score of 6-0 and 6-0.

“Our season has gone extremely well, last year we were a new team of new players and to see the leap we’ve taken through our season is great,” Zimmermann said.
