Children get ukulele lessons at local library
October 3, 2017
Children learned how to play the ukulele at the Glen Rock Public Library on Sept. 18.
Explore Ukulele is a program for children and young adults to learn how to play the ukulele. The class is a 45 minute introduction to the ukulele in which participants learn the four basic chords, strumming, and fingerpicking
Alex Goldenthal is the manager at Architekt Music, a studio where musicians of all ages learn to play instruments, perform, and record. The instructors offer private lessons.
Goldenthal says that the benefit of a group setting is “getting to know some of the kids and people in our community and bringing some music and some fun instrument learning to them.” Architekt Music has reached out not only to the Glen Rock Library, but also to the YMCA, local libraries and other local community groups.
In October 2016, Architekt’s second facility opened in Glen Rock.
Goldenthal hopes to soon have public lesson that include different musical options, like drums and open-mic.
Today, Glen Rock Library will host an introduction to guitar lesson.

This is very interesting Mary. I am deeply moved. The ukuele is a lost art form and I am glad you are shining a light on it. This article is the stepping stone to ukulele’s being restored to their former glory.
