The Ski Club plans to change the location of its annual trip this year to a ski resort in Vermont.

In the past, the trip had been a day trip to Belleayre Mountain in New York’s Catskill Range. This is a fairly sized East Coast ski resort, but this year the trip will be a longer stay at a larger ski area, Vermont’s Mount Snow in West Dover.

Mount Snow is known for its meticulously designed terrain parks and a variety of slopes for all levels of skiers. The mountain has everything from gentle beginner trails to black and double black diamonds. Reviews say that the mountain is well-groomed. One Glen Rock skier, Patrick Besser (’18), who has skied Mt. Snow eight times, says he particularly enjoys the runs accessible by the “blue bird lift.”

West Dover VT, is approximately a four hour bus ride from Glen Rock High School, depending on weather conditions. The trip, which has already reach maximum participation, will depart from the school sharply at 1:30 pm on a Friday in January.*

The participants will ski for two days and return on Sunday night. The group will sleep at the Snow Lake Lodge at the base of the mountain.  The base price of the trip was $205 but trip members can additionally go tubing, snowshoeing, have a massage, and participate in Yoga and the hotel’s relaxation package for an additional cost.

Jordan Schneider (11), a three year veteran of the Ski Club, said that his favorite part about skiing is “the adrenalin rush you get when you go down the Mountain.” He said that, when skiing at Mount Snow, they will be exposed to below freezing temperatures and recommends to his fellow skiers to bring “snow pants, sweatpants, compression shorts, under armor, a sweatshirt, ski coat, a helmet, goggles, a hat, and gloves.”
