Mid-Season Ice Hockey Update

Glen Rock Varsity Ice Hockey has mid-season standings of 17-2 which puts Glen Rock in top of the league. This year’s Varsity Ice hockey is led by seniors Matt Roy, Ryan Pulford, and Mike Buckel.

Glen Rock won a huge game versus Randolph with the score GR (5) and Randolph (2). This game was supposed to be very close. On January 19, Glen Rock lost to Ramsey for the semifinals in the Bergen County tournament with the score Glen Rock (0), Ramsey (3). This game marks one of the two games Glen Rock lost during the entire season.

Matt Roy, a senior for Glen Rock a huge asset for this year’s team, plays on the offensive line. During the entire season he has scored over 26 goals (compared to 55 throughout his varsity career), 26 assists (46) and with an astounding total of 53 points (101).  During the most recent game, Roy scored 4 points against Northern Highlands leaving the score Glen Rock 4 and Northern Highlands 1. During the Randolph game, Roy scored two points totaling out Glen Rock 5 and Randolph 2.

Senior Mike Buckel is Glen Rock’s second top player behind Roy. Similar to Roy, Buckel plays on the offensive line. During this season, he has a 20 goals, 18 assists and 38 points. Throughout his entire career on Varisty he has 32 goals, 32 assists and 64 total points.   He recently scored 3 points in a game versus Northern Highlands leaving the score Glen Rock 4 and Northern Highlands 1.

The team this year also has many underclassmen such as Freshman Jake Kinney who scored 36 points so far this season. Junior Peter Tatigan has 23 points this season with 11 goals and 12 assists.
